A Legacy of Giving

The Sam Viersen Family Foundation was established in 1987 by Oklahoma oilman and philanthropist Sam K. Viersen, Jr. Inspired by the example of his parents, Sam and Aleene, Mr. Viersen created the foundation to continue their shared commitment to giving back to the community. Today, the foundation is led by a board composed of family members and community associates dedicated to carrying forward this legacy of impactful charitable giving.

Continuing Our Impact

The foundation invests in nonprofit organizations that strengthen lives and communities across northeast Oklahoma.

Community Focus

We prioritize supporting nonprofits in Okmulgee and Tulsa Counties that create meaningful, lasting change.

Funding Priorities

The foundation supports nonprofit organizations serving communities in northeast Oklahoma whose work addresses one or more of four key areas of impact.

  • Basic Human Needs: Providing essentials, such as food and shelter.

  • Education: Supporting learning opportunities that open doors for students and strengthen communities.

  • Self-Sufficiency: Cultivating independence and empowerment.

  • Cultural Enrichment: Initiatives that give individuals access to experiences they might not otherwise have.

We award grants ranging from $1,000 to $500,000 and invite organizations whose missions align with ours to connect with us.
