Our Oklahoma Impact
Established in 1987 by Oklahoma oilman and philanthropist Sam K. Viersen, Jr., the Sam Viersen Family Foundation continues the Viersen family’s tradition of giving back. After Mr. Viersen’s passing, his sister, Maralynn Viersen Sant, led the foundation for more than two decades, strengthening its community impact. Today, a board of family members and community associates supports nonprofits in northeast Oklahoma, focusing on basic needs, self-sufficiency, education, and cultural access. Our initiatives are designed to reach those most in need, offering vital support and opportunities for growth.

We provide scholarship opportunities to deserving students, particularly those residing in Okmulgee County, to support their educational pursuits and personal development. Our aim is to foster future leaders and contribute to individual independence.
Our Guiding Principles
Led by a dedicated board of family members and community associates, our foundation upholds the Viersen legacy by focusing on key areas of impact.
Basic Human Needs: Providing essentials such as food and shelter.
Education: Supporting learning opportunities that open doors for students and strengthen communities.
Self-Sufficiency: Cultivating independence and empowerment.
Cultural Enrichment: Initiatives that give individuals access to experiences they might not otherwise have.
